Deleting a Redmine project
When you delete a Redmine project, all of its data is deleted, including issues, files, and subprojects.
Delete a project only when you have confirmed that it is really safe to delete it.
When a project is complete in normal operation, we recommend "Archive" or "Close".

Notes on deleting a project
When you delete a project, the data of the project is deleted completely. This includes issues, wiki pages, files, news, forums, and time tracking data. You cannot restore deleted data.
For this reason, we normally recommend "Archive", which hides the project, or "Close", which makes the project impossible to update, and not deletion.
Deletion is suitable for projects that you will never need to refer to again, such as projects created for testing or projects created by mistake.
| Operation | Main use | Data | When to use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Delete | Delete the project completely | Deleted | You want to remove a test project or a project created by mistake |
| Archive | Make the project completely invisible to ordinary users | Kept | The project is complete, for example, and you do not want to display it normally but want to keep it as a record |
| Close | Make the project read-only | Kept | The work has ended, but you want to keep the content available for reference |
