A specific tracker does not appear in the drop-down list on the new issue page of Redmine
When you cannot select a specific tracker on the new issue page (it does not appear in the drop-down list), the following causes are possible.
- The tracker is not selected in the project
- You do not have permission to create issues of that tracker
- [When the tracker does not appear while you create a subtask] The Parent task setting of the tracker is turned off
Example: A "Task" tracker was added, but it does not appear in the drop-down list on the new issue page
The tracker is not selected in the project
The tracker may not be set as a tracker used in the project. You can make the tracker available in the project with the following steps.
- Open the "Settings" → "Issue tracking" tab of the project
- Select the tracker and click "Save"
The "Issue tracking" tab
You can also configure this setting from "Administration" → "Trackers" → click the tracker → select the projects and click "Save".
You do not have permission to create issues of that tracker
The role settings may restrict you from creating issues of that tracker. You can enable the permission to create issues with the following steps.
- Click "Administration" → "Roles and permissions" → the name of the role
- In "Issue tracking" at the bottom of the page, select the trackers for which you allow issue creation and click "Save"
In Issue tracking of a role, you can control permissions for each tracker
If "All trackers" is turned on (selected) for "Add issues" as shown in the next image, users can create issues of all trackers. If you turn on "All trackers", you do not need to enable the permission to create issues (the setting above) every time you add a tracker.

[When the tracker does not appear while you create a subtask] The Parent task setting of the tracker is turned off
The standard field "Parent task" may be turned off (not selected) in the tracker settings. When it is turned off, the Parent task field is not enabled, so you cannot create a subtask with that tracker. You can turn on the Parent task field with the following steps.
- Click "Administration" → "Trackers" → the name of the tracker
- Turn on the standard field "Parent task" and click "Save"
