Commits to a repository such as Subversion do not appear in "Activity" in Redmine until you open "Repository"
Redmine fetches information about new commits when you open the "Repository" page. This is the reason for the behavior described in the title.
To make Redmine fetch the information even if you do not open the "Repository" page, use one of the following settings.
Method 1: Fetch commits at regular intervals
Open the "Repositories" tab of the "Administration" → "Settings" page and turn off "Fetch commits automatically". Then run the following command with cron.
cd /path/to/redmine ; bundle exec rake redmine:fetch_changesets RAILS_ENV=production
Note: Replace /path/to/redmine with the Redmine installation directory.
Method 2: Fetch commits at the time of each commit
You can use the hook script mechanism of Subversion and other systems to make Redmine fetch the information at the same time as a commit to the repository.
