Redmine shows the error "The entry or revision was not found in the repository."
Redmine displays the error "The entry or revision was not found in the repository." in two cases. The first case is that the repository access information in the "Repositories" tab of the project "Settings" page is not correct. The second case is that an error occurs when Redmine runs a command of the version control system.
Possible causes
- The URL of the repository is wrong.
- The user name or password for access to the repository is wrong.
- An error occurs when a command of the version control system runs on the server that runs Redmine.
- The file system permissions are not correct, and the OS user that runs Redmine cannot access the repository.
How to investigate in detail
Check the error log of the web server that runs Redmine (for example, error_log of Apache). The log sometimes contains the error message from the command of the version control system.
Example of an error in the log (the user name or password is wrong):
svn: OPTIONS of 'https://svn.example.jp/svn/repo/trunk': authorization failed: Could not authenticate to server: rejected Basic challenge (https://svn.example.jp/)
If the commands of the version control system (svn, git, and so on) are installed in a directory that is not in the command search path (for example, /usr/local/bin or /opt/local/bin), you may need to specify the full path of the command with scm_subversion_command or scm_git_command in configuration.yml.
