Keywords that you can use when creating Redmine issues by email

This page lists the keywords that you can use when you create an issue by email.

You can also check the available keywords by reading the source code of the MailHandler#issue_attributes_from_keywords method of Redmine.

Attribute name Value and format Description
project Project identifier
Note: This is not the project name
The project in which the new issue is created.
Not required when you update an existing issue by a reply.
tracker Tracker name
(Example: Bug)
The tracker of the new issue.
If omitted, the tracker at the top of the "Administration" → "Trackers" page is used.
category Category name The category of the new issue.
priority Name of the priority
(Example: Urgent)
The priority of the issue.
If omitted, the default value specified in "Administration" → "Enumerations" is used.
status Name of the status
(Example: Resolved)
The status of the issue.
If omitted, the default value specified in "Administration" → "Issue statuses" is used.
assigned to One of the following values
- Login of the user
- Email address of the user
- Full name of the user ()
- Name of the group

) Specify it in the format set in "Users display format" on the Administration > Settings > Display tab, or in the "Firstname Lastname" format
The assignee of the issue.
The user or group that matches the specified value is set as the assignee.
start date YYYY-MM-DD
(Example: 2010-11-03)
The start date of the issue.
If omitted, the date when the issue is created.
due date YYYY-MM-DD
(Example: 2010-11-03)
The due date of the issue.
fixed version Version name
(Example: 2010-11-03)
The target version of the issue.
estimated hours Time
(Example: 10.5, 10h30m)
The estimated time of the issue.
done ratio % Done value (in steps of 10%)
(Example: 40, 100)
The % Done of the issue.
parent issue Parent issue number
(Example: 123)
The number of the issue that you want to set as the parent task. (Available in Redmine 4.0 or later)
Name of a custom field The value of the custom field of the issue.
