FAQ › Administration

New features are not available after upgrading Redmine (permission settings for new features)

Created on 2011-03-29

After a major version upgrade of Redmine (example: 0.9 → 1.0), please grant the newly added permissions to the roles that need them.

An upgrade sometimes adds new permissions that control whether users can use a new feature. However, the newly added permissions are not granted to any role. Without a change, users other than Redmine administrators cannot use the new feature.

Adding permissions

Open the "Administration" → "Roles and permissions" → "Permissions report" screen, and grant the permissions that were added by the upgrade to the roles that need them.

Example:

Redmine 1.0 made it possible to put issues in a parent-child relationship. However, in an environment that was upgraded from Redmine 0.9 or earlier to 1.0 or later, and not newly installed, the "Manage subtasks" permission is not granted to any role. For this reason, you add the permission.
