Gantt Chart

A Gantt chart is a visual chart that displays tasks on a horizontal timeline, with dates along the horizontal axis and tasks along the vertical axis.
Each task is represented by a horizontal bar spanning from its start date to its due date.
Gantt charts are widely used in project management because they provide an intuitive way to understand scheduled work, progress, and the overall project timeline.

Redmine Gantt Chart

Redmine includes a Gantt chart as a standard feature.
The chart is automatically generated from the start date, due date, and % Done values of versions and issues.
It provides a convenient way to grasp the overall schedule, progress, and future plans across a large number of issues.

Issues are displayed in ascending order of start date (issues with the same start date are displayed in ascending issue ID order).

To display the Gantt chart, click Gantt in the project menu.

Related Issues

Arrows between task bars represent relationships such as precedes or blocked by. To display relationship arrows, expand the options panel and enable the checkbox under Related issues.

Progress Line

The progress line connects the progress points (% Done) of each issue’s bar. The red zigzag line indicates schedule variance:

  • If the point is to the left of today's vertical line → the issue is behind schedule
  • If the point is to the right → the issue is ahead of schedule

To display the progress line, expand the options panel and enable the checkbox under Progress line.
